Congratulations to 3 students who won Gold in the Under 15 yrs Mixed Team Kata event and one of them won Gold in the individual 10&11 yrs Girls Kata.

Hana & Michaela represented NSW in the kata event for 10 & 11 yrs and Children categories respectively. Hana won Bronze.

Hana Sawal won the Silver medal in the Under 10 yrs Female Kata.

There will No Classes from Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th Aug '12 as one of the students will be competing at the AKF National Championships that weekend. Sensei Sawal will be assisting the NSW team as a kata state coach.

13 members competed in this international tournament and brought back a total of 15 medals and trophies - consisted of 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze medals for Individual events, and 1 Silver and 1 Bronze trophies for Team Kata Mixed Under 14yrs event.

There will No Classes from 9th April to 17th April '12 as some of the students are travelling to train and compete in Singapore that week.

NSWKF Annual Awards Evening and State Team Announcement - 7.30pm at Fontana Amarosa Function Centre, Forbes St, Liverpool.
Student Hana Sawal competed and won the Gold medal for the Under 10 yrs Girls Kata to be crowned the NSW State champion.
At the Awards Evening ceremony, Hana was officially selected to be part of the state team to compete in the coming National Championships.

Sensei Sawal attended the seminar and gained insight on new competition rules.

4th Sat February '12 - NSW State Training in Wagga Wagga
At Kooringal Public School, Wagga Wagga 12nn-1.30pm Kata and 1.30-3pm Kumite.
Total 10 students came to train out of which 9 students attended the kata training while 1 student attended the kumite training.

4th Sat - 5th Sunday February '12 - Bronze Level Coaching Course
At Whitlam Leisure Centre,Liverpool NSW – 8.00am.
3 members attended the course.

20th Nov '11 Sunday – Kumite Workshop by World Champion Kristina Mah
At Glenfield Community Centre, Wagga Wagga.
1) 15 yrs and Under session at 10-11am
2) Advance session at 11.30am - 1pm
Event was a success with 53 participants attended including students from two other Wagga karate clubs.
 
22nd Oct '11 Saturday – Shinwa-Kai Karate Championships
At Glenfield Community Centre, Wagga Wagga – 3.00pm.
Congratulations to 21 students who competed and won medals in this Kyu Grade Kata competition. This is also the first time the club's adult Black Belts judge in a tournament.

30th Sat – 31st Sun July '11 – Commonwealth Karate Championships
At Whitlam Leisure Centre,Liverpool NSW – 8.00am.
Congratulations to 6 students who competed and won a Silver medal for the Under 10 yrs old Girls Kata event.

26th June '11 Sunday – Tournament of Champions
At Whitlam Leisure Centre,Liverpool NSW - 9am.
Congratulations to 20 students who competed and won a total of 9 samurai sword prizes. Two of them gained 1st Place, three students achieved 2nd Place and 4 students got 3rd Place.

28th May '11 Saturday – NSW Open Championships
At Whitlam Leisure Centre,Liverpool NSW – 8.30am.
Congratulations to 7 students who competed and won a total of 10 medals. In the Kyu Grade Competitions, they received 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. Two students competed in the Open Championships and they won 1 Gold and 1 Bronze medals.

9th February '11 Monday – NO CLASS
There will be No Karate Class at 5pm and Adult Class will begin at 6.30pm instead as Sensei Sawal will be attending a refresher First Aid course that day.

3rd May '11 Tues – NO CLASS
There will be No Karate Class at Kapooka CC as Sensei Sawal will be attending the Mental Health Awareness Training that evening.

25th Mon & 26th Tues May '11 – CLASSES as normal
There will be classes conducted on the above days as normal.

15th Fri - 17th Sun April '11 – Australian Open
At Waverly Netball Centre, Glen Waverley VIC.
Congratulations to 16 students who competed and returned with a total of 2 Silver and 6 Bronze medals at the Kyu Grade Championships and 1 Bronze medal (Team Kata Children under 13yrs) at the Australia Open Championships. 

14th Thurs - 16th Sat April '11 - NO CLASS
Please note that there will be NO CLASS on 14th to 16th April as some students will be competing at the Australian Open Karate Championships in Melbourne. Normal class will resume on Monday 18th April.

25th March '11 Friday - Karate Demo at Henschke Primary School Fete
The Club was invited to perform karate demonstration at the school's Fete at 5.30pm. About 24 students (including adults) participated and most of the children had the chance to witness how the adults spar as part of the demonstration. Apart from the basic and kata routine, 3 students demonstrated on how to break boards with their punch and kicks.

6th March '11 Sunday - Sydney All Styles Karate Cup
Congratulations to 10 students who participated and returned with a total of 3 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. This is the first time they won 2 Silver medals in kumite.

5th Sat - 6th Sun February '11 - Sydney International Karate Championships
Congratulations to 11 students who participated in the competition and returned to Wagga Wagga with a total of 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. The students have trained very hard for this high-level competition and the experience they get is invaluable. Well done!

4th Fri - 5th Sat February '11 – NO CLASS
There will be No Karate Class as the Sydney International Karate Championships will be held on that weekend.

26th Wed Jan'11 – Australia Day
There will be No Karate Class on this public holiday.

18th December '10 Saturday – Raffle Prize Collection
The Raffle Prize was handed to the lucky winner Mr Steve Brown by Mr Patrick Wilsmore and Sensei Sawal at 11am in Coles Supermarket, Sturt Mall. Mr Oscar Colman from the DA came to take pictures of the event for the newspaper’s Monday publication in its ‘Out and About’ page.

14th December '10 Tuesday – Raffle Ticket Draw
Congratulations to Mr Steve Brown for being the lucky winner of the raffle prize worth $1000 ($500 gift cards, $500 worth of groceries and a portable stove). The ticket was drawn by Mr Patrick Wilsmore, manager of Coles Wagga, at 2pm in Sturt Mall. The Club wishes to thank Coles Wagga for sponsoring the gift cards and groceries, and to the Becroft family for contributing the portable stove. The Club would also like to thank all members, families and friends for their contributions in the fund-raising event.

6th to 11th December 2010 – Grading
Congratulations to all students who have passed their grading recently – a total of 81 students from Glenfield, Kapooka, Holy Trinity Primary and Henty dojo. 24 of the students achieved 8th Kyu, while 11 of them achieved 4th Kyu.

12th November '10 Friday – End-of-Year Event/ Karate Training
The End-of-Year event cum karate training at Glenfield Community Centre was well attended by 51 students. Family and friends came to support them. The students performed basic movements, kata and displayed sparring techniques. The 3 squad of team kata members performed their kata sequence smartly and with confidence. As a rather impromptu perfomance, Sensei Sawal joined in as a team kata member with Hana and Hayley (both 1st Kyu students) to demonstrate Anan kata. The adult students then displayed their abilities in free-sparring. At the end of the training, Mr Patrick Wilsmore who represented our major sponsor, Coles Wagga, gave a short speech. He also drew and handed out the lucky draw prizes to 4 winners of $80 Coles-Myer gift voucher, $100 sports voucher and 2 souvenier balls signed by the soccerooTim Cahill. The event ended with a cake-cutting ceremony by 4 of the club's youngest members and a light refreshment was served to all those present. The club wishes to thank all students, family and friends who had given their support and assistance for the event.

5th November '10 Friday – Turvey Park Public School Fete.
The Club is invited to perform karate demonstration for the Fete on 5th November at 6pm. About 30 students participated and many of them are themselves students from Turvey Park Public. NO CLASS was conducted on that day.

29th October '10 Friday – Holy Trinity Primary School Fete.
The Club is invited to perform karate demonstration for the Fete on 29th October at 6pm. Altogether, 30 students participated in the demonstration. 3 squads of team kata members performed for the first time in public. NO CLASS was conducted on that day.

25th October '10 Monday – Annual General Meeting 2010.
The Club wishes to thank all the members who attended the AGM.

23rd October '10 Saturday – No Class
Please note that there will be NO CLASS on 23rd October Saturday as Sensei Sawal has family commitment on that day. 

4th October '10 Monday – Normal Class.
Class is operating as per normal on 4th October Monday.

25th September '10 Saturday – No Class.
Please note that there will be NO CLASS on 25th Sept Saturday as the Glenfield Community Centre is booked by another user for an event on that day.

6th to 11th September '10 – Grading
Congratulations to all students who have passed their grading recently - a total of 75 students from Glenfield and Kapooka dojo. 15 of the students achieved 8th Kyu, while 8 of them achieved 4th Kyu. 4 of the most senior students achieved 1st Kyu and are now preparing for their black belt grading next year.

th and 7th August '10 – No Classes.
Please note that there will be no classes on 6th Aug Friday and 7th Aug Saturday as Sensei Sawal will be in Sydney to attend the Natonal Karate Championship as a spectator. Classes will resume as normal on Monday 9th Aug '10.

th July '10 Tuesday – Henty Dojo
The Club started its first class at St Paul's Lutheran Primary School, Henty. The 1 hour session begins at 3.45pm and is conducted only during school term.

27th June Sunday – Tournament of Champions
Congratulations to 15 members from the club who competed in the karate competition held at Whitlam Leisure Centre, Liverpool, Sydney. Through diligence, perserverance and hardwork, they achieved one 1st Place, one 2nd Place and three 3rd Places. Instead of medals, they each received samurai swords. Three of the competitors achieved 4th Place. Sensei Sawal is proud of the students' overall performance in the competition. The club wishes to thank Coles Wagga for sponsoring us energy drinks and bottled water for our competitors. The club also wishes to thank Prime News for the news coverage on the club's competition team. Both the sponsorship and news coverage further motivated the competitors to perform well for Wagga Wagga.

24th June Thursday – Demonstration at The Market Place for Wagga Wagga's Refugee Week
The club was invited by the Multi-Cultural Council to perform karate demonstration at The Market Place at 6pm as part of Wagga Wagga's Refugee Week event. The club was represented by 21 students who performed excellently in the demonstration.


29th May Saturday – Demonstration at Bolton Park Stadium for the Martial Arts Festival
34 members of the club participated in performing karate demonstrations at the first ever Wagga Wagga Martial Arts Festival. The members put up an excellent and commendable performance considering that it was the first public performance for most of them. The club wishes to thank the participants and their family members for their invaluable support in promoting the Art.

 
26 March 2010 – Henschke Primary School Fete
The club is invited to give a karate demonstration at the Fete. All students are encouraged to participate in the event. Participants are to gather at the school’s quadrangle ( outside Year 3 classrooms) at 5.45pm.
Please note that there will be NO CLASS on Friday 26th March.

7 March 2010 – Sydney All Styles Karate Cup
9 students participated in the above competition and successfully brought back to Wagga Wagga a total of 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
The club wishes to congratulate all the participants and their family members for their effort and support in achieving the commendable result especially for the fact that all of them, with the exception of one student, competed for the first time.
